DAYTONA BEACH -- The roar of the engines can be heard at the Daytona International Speedway this week, but it may not be the thunderous sound you're used to.
Hundreds of kart racers are in town for the annual Daytona KartWeek races.
This year, they get to race on Daytona International Speedway's newest track, a quarter-mile dirt track just outside the gates of the famed superspeedway.
A few NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers, along with a former Indy 500 winner, are racing this weekend as well.
It's just one more reminder that things go on at the famous racing facility other than races in February and July.
"You know, we have an economic impact of close to $2 billion, and one of the reasons why is we're so busy. And we have hundreds of karters here. It's just a small part of what we do here year around here at the speedway. We're always busy with something. It's karts, sports cars, stockcars or motorcycles," said Andrew Card from Daytona International Speedway.
Daytona KartWeek wraps up Wednesday.

After several thousand miles of travel during the 2009 race season, JBs Racing Team has once again had a successful season.
The team members were all able to complete the season as points leaders in their FDDS brackets and come away with the top honors. In the Jr Sportsman 2 Lite and the Jr Sportsman 2 Heavy, we have Ezra Beske as the leader. Jason Todd Burke is the top racer in the Jr Lite and Jr Heavy for the 2009 season. New father, Josh Robinson, finishes out the season as the top racer in the Animal Medium class. CJ Waldron, team associate, is the final points leader in the Raptor 330 series.
The team finished the FKA season a little rougher for the ride and the hard driving didn’t allow them to rank as high as they had hoped. Jason Todd Burke finished the Restricted Jr Gold series in fourth place and the Jr Stock Non-Restrictive in sixth place. Josh Robinson finished second in the Stock Heavy division. Ezra Beske did not race in the FKA series this season as he chose to concentrate on the FDDS and hone his driving skills.

The 2010 season will bring great changes to JBs Racing Team. JBS Racing Team will begin to move onto new racing circuits. Jim Burke hopes to get more time at the drag strip in the 1967 Camaro. Jason Todd Burke, having celebrated his 16th birthday, will move up to the adult divisions and mini stock league. Our very own Josh Robinson has been chosen as one of 50 drivers to compete for a spot in the Caged Heat Racing Series. The top 50 includes drivers from around the country and around the world. Elimination rounds will begin in the near future and only 29 drivers will be chosen for the circuit. Ezra Beske has left JBs Racing Team and will continue on in the Karting series. Good Luck Ezra! As Jason and Josh progress, so will JBs Racing Team. We expect to be spending more time on the road and wish all the drivers the best of luck for the 2010 season.
